Alastair Gillespie (Host)

Alastair Gillespie joined Covenant Review in 2020 from the London office of Milbank LLP, and is a graduate of Yale University and the McGill University Faculty of Law. Alastair is a New York securities lawyer with a decade of experience representing issuers and underwriters in the London and New York high yield and leveraged finance markets, and has completed secondments to the Merchant Banking Division of Goldman Sachs and the legal department of J.P. Morgan. Prior to his legal career Alastair served as an advisor to the Deputy Prime Minister of Canada. He is also the author of The Confederation Series, a history of five founders of modern Canada, for which he received the Senate of Canada Sesquicentennial Medal in 2017.

Brian J. Lohan

Ilse Van Gasteren

Ilse van Gasteren is a partner in Clifford Chance's Global Financial Markets practice in Amsterdam and co-Head the European Restructuring and Insolvency Group. She specialises in advising stakeholders in Dutch and cross-border restructurings & insolvencies. Ilse is also author of various articles for legal journals on, amongst other topics, Dutch Schemes (WHOA), LMA Facilities Agreements and Dutch “Pre-Packs”, and member of the editorial board of the legal journal FIP (Sdu).
Ilse is chair of diversity & inclusion committee of Clifford Chance Amsterdam. Stefanie Ferring

Stefanie Ferring is a partner in Clifford Chance's Global Financial Markets practice in Luxembourg. She specialises in insolvency and restructuring matters, with a focus on cross-border financial restructurings and restructuring work involving real estate portfolios. Stefanie's expertise in restructuring and insolvency (R&I) mandates, including collateral enforcement, is widely acknowledged. She has also broad experience in national and cross-border banking and finance work, including, in particular all lending activities and real estate finance.
Stefanie is a thought leader in the field, regularly hosting sessions that delve into the latest restructuring trends within Luxembourg. In addition, her leadership extends to her role as the chairwoman of the insolvency working group of the Luxembourg Bankers' Association (ABBL). Stefanie's plays an instrumental role in establishing and leading the D&I initiatives in the Luxembourg office.

Chris Norman

Chris Norman is a Senior Associate in Clifford Chance's Restructuring and Insolvency (R&I) Practice in London. He specialises in advising lenders, shareholders, borrowers, insolvency officeholders and other stakeholders in relation to restructurings and insolvency related matters, with a particular focus on cross border restructurings. Chris has extensive experience advising on the restructuring of complex capital structures, particularly in Europe and Africa.
Chris is the author of various articles for legal journals and thought leadership pieces and regularly presents to market participants on topical restructuring and insolvency developments. He is a member of the LMA and INSOL.
